Kogan

Connect Kogan to list products, update stock and prices, ship and cancel orders, and issue refunds as a marketplace seller.

You paste the Seller ID and Seller Token your Kogan marketplace account manager sends you. PopMCP works out whether they are for the live store or the test system by trying them.

Seller/marketplace approval before this connector works

You need to be an approved Kogan Marketplace seller. Kogan's guide starts with its Marketplace application form, and your account manager sends the API details once you are approved.

Typical wait
Kogan publishes no turnaround.
Cost
Kogan's API guide mentions no fee for API access. Ask Kogan about the terms for selling on its marketplace.
Blocked until approved
The whole connection, since the Seller ID and Seller Token come from your account manager.
Works meanwhile
Nothing on your own. Kogan's guide has new integrations start on its test system, with details from your account manager.

Where to apply: Fill in the Kogan.com Marketplace application form at kogan.com/au/kogan-supplier-application-form. If you already sell on Kogan.com, ask your account manager for your Seller ID and Seller Token.

  • Test and live are separate: each has its own details, and products on test are not copied to live.
  • Taking a listing down at once needs permission from Kogan: email marketplace-support@kogan.com.au.
  • Test and live have different categories, so a category id from one may not work on the other.

Rate limits
500 requests a minute, 20,000 an hour and 100,000 a day. Over a limit Kogan answers HTTP 429 and says how many seconds to wait. A product batch takes 500 at most, and Kogan suggests 100 to 200, because a batch stops after 5 minutes.

Before you begin

  • An approved Kogan Marketplace seller account.
  • A Seller ID and Seller Token from your Kogan marketplace account manager. Kogan has no page for making these yourself.

Ask your account manager for your API details

Ask your Kogan marketplace account manager for your Seller ID and Seller Token. They set these up and send them to you, as Kogan's Authentication page says, so there is nothing to click in a console. The Seller ID is your account name, and the Seller Token is the API key.

HeaderWhat it is
SellerTokenThe API key
SellerIDYour account name

Your marketplace account manager will set these up and communicate them with you.

Paste both into PopMCP

In PopMCP, open Kogan, paste your Seller ID and Seller Token, and connect. There is no setting for live or test: PopMCP tries the details on Kogan's live store first and then on its test system, and remembers which one took them.

Allow changes when you are ready

New connections start read-only, so the AI can read products and orders and nothing else. Kogan's details have no read-only setting of their own. When you want the AI to change listings, send orders or issue refunds, an owner or admin can allow writes in PopMCP.

To use the test system

Kogan's guide has new integrations start on its test system, and your account manager gives you separate details for it. Connect them the same way and PopMCP recognises them as test. Live has its own details, and products on test are not copied across, so you list them again on live.

Connect in PopMCP

Open your workspace, choose Kogan in the marketplace, and fill in the connect dialog:

FieldWhat to enter
Seller IDtextYour Kogan account name, from the details your Kogan marketplace account manager sent you.
Seller TokensecretFrom the details your Kogan marketplace account manager sent you. Stored encrypted, used server-side only.Encrypted with AES-256-GCM on save and never shown again.

PopMCP verifies the credential against Kogan immediately. On success the connection flips to Verified and its MCP tools are provisioned.

Verify it worked

PopMCP shows Kogan as Verified, named with your Seller ID, with (test) after it on the test system. Ask for an overview: kogan_account_overview answers with the system, the orders waiting to be sent and some of your products.

Troubleshooting

"Kogan did not accept this Seller ID and Seller Token"

Why: One of the values was copied incompletely, or the token is no longer active.

Fix: Copy both again from what your account manager sent. If they are right, ask your account manager to check the token.

"Kogan is limiting requests for this seller right now"

Why: Your seller account went over one of Kogan's limits, perhaps through another tool using the same details.

Fix: Wait a minute and try again.

kogan_set_product_status answers 403

Why: Kogan has not given your account permission for this call.

Fix: Email marketplace-support@kogan.com.au, or set stock to 0 to show the product as sold out.

An order you can see in your records answers not found

Why: Kogan's single order lookup only returns orders waiting to be sent.

Fix: Use kogan_order_overview, which also looks through orders shipped or cancelled in the last 15 days.

A product call succeeded but the product did not change

Why: Product changes run in the background, and their errors only appear on the task.

Fix: Call kogan_wait_for_task with the task_id from the answer, and read the errors and warnings per SKU.

A category does not work on live, or on test

Why: Kogan's test system has different categories from the live store.

Fix: Find it again with kogan_find_category on the connection you are using.
