Privy
Connect Privy to manage store contacts and consent, see popup, email and SMS results, report orders, and send events that start flows.
You paste one value into PopMCP: a Privy API token, made in the Privy dashboard under Settings, API Tokens. If the token can reach subaccounts, you then choose which account the connection is for.
Paid plan required before this connector works
No one reviews you, but Privy only offers API access on paid accounts. An account without it gets a 403 with the code api_access_required on every call.
- Typical wait
- None once the account has API access. If your account is on a paid plan and still gets the refusal, Privy's support team has to turn it on.
- Cost
- See privy.com/pricing for current plans.
- Blocked until approved
- Everything. PopMCP's connect check reads the account and is refused until API access is on.
- Works meanwhile
- Read Privy's API reference and decide which permissions the token should have, and which subaccounts it should reach, since reach cannot be changed after a token is made.
Where to apply: No application. Move the account to a paid plan, then create a token under Settings, API Tokens. If that is refused, email support@privy.com.
- Privy fixes a token's permissions and subaccount reach when it is made. To change either, create a new token and connect again.
- Reports need the reports_read permission on its own, even when the token can read the campaigns and flows being reported on.
- All tokens on one account share a default limit of 60 requests a minute and 10,000 a day.
- Setup time
- 1 min
- Auth
- API credentials
- API base URL
- https://api.privy.com/v1
- Rate limits
- Per account across all its tokens, by default: 60 requests a minute and 10,000 a day. A 429 answer says how many seconds to wait in Retry-After.
Before you begin
- A Privy account at privy.com on a paid plan: Privy only offers API access on paid accounts. This is the popups, email and SMS platform for online stores, not the wallet company at privy.io
- If you manage subaccounts and want to reach them from the parent account's token, decide which ones before you create the token: this cannot be changed later
- For product and coupon code tools, a Shopify or BigCommerce store connected to Privy
Get your credentials
Open API Tokens in your Privy settings
Sign in to the Privy dashboard, select Settings in the lower left corner, then API Tokens. In a subaccount, this page makes a token for that subaccount only.
API Tokens
No API tokens yet
Create a token to use the Privy API.
Create the token
Click Create Token. Enter a name such as PopMCP, tick the permissions and pick how long it lasts. Tick every permission for full use, or only those ending in _read to keep the token read-only. No expiration means you will not have to reconnect. If your account has subaccounts, choose Parent only, All subaccounts or Selected subaccounts.
API Tokens
Copy the token
Copy the token now. Privy shows it only once and you cannot view it again. It starts with privy_.
API Tokens
Paste the token into PopMCP and choose the account
In PopMCP, paste the token into API token and connect. PopMCP checks it and lists your Privy account and any subaccounts the token reaches. Choose the account this connection is for; each one goes into its own PopMCP workspace. The connection is then locked to it.
Connect in PopMCP
Open your workspace, choose Privy in the marketplace, and fill in the connect dialog:
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| API tokensecret | In the Privy dashboard: Settings, API Tokens, Create Token. Stored encrypted.Encrypted with AES-256-GCM on save and never shown again. |
PopMCP verifies the credential against Privy immediately. On success the connection flips to Verified and its MCP tools are provisioned.
Verify it worked
PopMCP marks the Privy connection Verified with your account's name. Asking the AI how the store did over the last 30 days returns signups, subscribers and attributed revenue, and the privy_check_access tool lists which read permissions the token holds.
Troubleshooting
Privy did not accept this API token
Why:
Fix: The token has expired or been revoked, or was not copied whole. Tokens cannot be viewed twice, so create a new one under Settings, API Tokens and paste that.
Privy says API access is not on for this account
Why:
Fix: API access comes with a paid Privy plan. Upgrade, or if you already pay, email support@privy.com and ask them to turn it on.
A tool is refused for a missing permission
Why:
Fix: The token was made without it, and the message names which one. Create a new token with it ticked, then connect Privy again in PopMCP.
This token can no longer reach that subaccount
Why:
Fix: A token's reach is fixed when it is made. Create a new token that includes the subaccount and connect again, or make the token inside the subaccount.
That looks like a key from the Privy wallet product
Why:
Fix: privy.io is a different company. Sign in at dashboard.privy.com and create an API token there.
Contact reads say contacts are not ready
Why:
Fix: Privy has not given this account's contacts API ids yet. Email support@privy.com to have this turned on.
Product tools say no store is connected
Why:
Fix: Products, collections and coupon code checks read a connected Shopify or BigCommerce store. Connect the store to Privy first.
Privy is limiting requests
Why:
Fix: All tokens on an account share one limit, by default 60 requests a minute and 10,000 a day. Wait a minute and try again, or ask support@privy.com about higher limits.
