Drip
Connect Drip to manage people and tags, build and send emails, run workflows, track carts and orders, and report on email revenue.
You paste one Drip API token from your own User Settings page. There is no app to create and no approval to wait for. If you can open several Drip accounts, you choose which one each connection is for.
- Setup time
- 1 min
- Auth
- API credentials
- API base URL
- https://api.getdrip.com
- Rate limits
- 3,600 requests an hour; 50 an hour on batch endpoints, with up to 1,000 records each; 20 an hour per account on email metrics; 20 an hour and 40 a day per user on test emails. Over a limit returns 429, with Retry-After on metrics and test emails. Several writes to one person at once also return a 429, which does not use up the hourly limit.
Before you begin
- A Drip account you can sign in to
- If Drip says API access is not enabled for your account, ask support@drip.com to turn it on
Get your credentials
Open User Settings
Sign in to Drip, open Settings, then User Settings. The link below goes straight there once you are signed in.
User Settings
Your own login, not the whole account.
- Name
- Ada Lovelace
- ada@acme-supply.com
The API Token is further down this same page.
Copy your API Token
Scroll to API Token near the bottom of the page and copy the token shown. Copy this one rather than generating a new one: a new token stops anything still using the old one, such as another integration you already run.
User Settings
Your own login, not the whole account.
Paste the token into PopMCP
Paste it into API token and connect. PopMCP checks it with Drip and lists the accounts it can open. If there are several, choose which ones to connect; each becomes its own connection, bound to that account. You never type an account ID.
Connect in PopMCP
Open your workspace, choose Drip in the marketplace, and fill in the connect dialog:
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| API tokensecret | In Drip: open Settings, then User Settings, and copy the API Token near the bottom of the page. Copy the one shown: generating a new one stops anything using the old one. Stored encrypted.Encrypted with AES-256-GCM on save and never shown again. |
PopMCP verifies the credential against Drip immediately. On success the connection flips to Verified and its MCP tools are provisioned.
Verify it worked
PopMCP shows Drip as Verified with your account's name as the label. Ask for your account overview: drip_account_overview returns your active, unsubscribed and undeliverable people instead of an authentication error.
Troubleshooting
"Drip did not accept this API token"
Why: The token was cut short, or someone generated a new one since you copied it, which cancels the old one.
Fix: Copy the API Token again from User Settings in Drip and paste it whole.
"Drip refused this token. API access may be off for your account"
Why: API access is not switched on for this Drip account.
Fix: Ask support@drip.com to turn on API access, then connect again.
"This Drip login can no longer open the account"
Why: Your Drip user was removed from that account after you connected it.
Fix: Ask the account's owner to add you again, or connect another account.
A connection that worked stops working
Why: A new API token was generated in Drip. That cancels the token PopMCP holds.
Fix: Copy the new token from User Settings and reconnect Drip in PopMCP.
Drip refuses an email with a message about unsubscribe or postal address
Why: Drip requires an unsubscribe tag and a postal address tag in the HTML itself. Filling in a postal address field is not enough.
Fix: Add {{ unsubscribe_link }} and {{ inline_postal_address }} to the email's footer.
A person cannot be found, though they exist in Drip
Why: Drip's person endpoints only work with active people, so an unsubscribed person can read as not found.
Fix: Use drip_list_subscribers with status=all to see them.
