Superhuman Docs

Connect Superhuman Docs (formerly Coda) to read and edit docs, pages and tables, add and update rows, run buttons and automations, and manage sharing.

You paste one value into PopMCP: a Superhuman Docs API token, generated under Account settings, API settings in Superhuman Docs (formerly Coda).

Per user: reading data 100 requests per 6 seconds, writing data (POST, PUT, PATCH) 10 per 6 seconds, writing doc content 5 per 10 seconds, listing docs 4 per 6 seconds, reading analytics 100 per 6 seconds. Over a limit Superhuman Docs answers 429.

Before you begin

  • A Superhuman Docs account on any plan, free included. Coda was renamed Superhuman Docs in July 2026 and existing accounts carried over
  • Access to the docs you want the AI to work with: the token reaches only what you can open
  • To create docs or pages: the Doc Maker role in the workspace

Get your credentials

Sign in to Superhuman Docs (formerly Coda)

Sign in at docs.superhuman.com with the account whose docs the AI should reach. Old coda.io addresses still work and open the same account.

Open Account settings, then API settings

Click your profile picture at the top right and choose Account settings. Scroll down to the API settings section, which lists the tokens you already have.

Generate API token

Generate a token, restricted if you like

Choose Generate API token and give it a name such as PopMCP. Leave it unrestricted so the AI can reach every doc you can open, or use Add restrictions to limit it to the docs or tables you choose, with read only, write only, or read and write access. Then generate it.

Paste the token into PopMCP

In PopMCP, paste the token into API token and connect. PopMCP checks it by asking Superhuman Docs who it belongs to, then stores it encrypted.

Connect in PopMCP

Open your workspace, choose Superhuman Docs in the marketplace, and fill in the connect dialog:

FieldWhat to enter
API tokensecretIn Superhuman Docs (formerly Coda), open Account settings, scroll to API settings and choose Generate API token. Copy it straight away, it is shown only once. Stored encrypted and used only on our servers.Encrypted with AES-256-GCM on save and never shown again.

PopMCP verifies the credential against Superhuman Docs immediately. On success the connection flips to Verified and its MCP tools are provisioned.

Verify it worked

PopMCP marks the Superhuman Docs connection Verified with your name and email, and notes when the token is restricted. Asking the AI to list your docs returns the docs you have opened recently.

Troubleshooting

"Superhuman Docs did not accept this API token. In Superhuman Docs (formerly Coda) open Account settings, find API settings, generate a new token and paste the whole token."

Why: The token was copied in part, pasted with extra text around it, or deleted.

Fix: Generate a new token under **Account settings**, **API settings** and paste only the token itself.

A doc is missing from the list of docs

Why: Superhuman Docs lists only docs you have opened at least once, and a restricted token lists only the docs it covers.

Fix: Open the doc once in Superhuman Docs, or give the AI the doc's link; PopMCP takes the doc id out of it. Check the token's restrictions if it still cannot reach the doc.

Tools fail with 403 on one doc

Why: The token is restricted away from that doc, or your own account cannot open it.

Fix: Generate a token that covers the doc, or ask the doc's owner to share it with you.

A row or page the AI just added does not show up yet

Why: Superhuman Docs queues every change and applies it a few seconds later, and reads can lag recent edits by a few seconds.

Fix: Wait a few seconds. The AI can check with get_mutation_status, using the request id the change returned.

Writing a row fails with 400

Why: The column is calculated by a formula, the column name does not exist, or the table named is a view rather than the table itself.

Fix: Write to the base table and to columns without a formula. get_doc_overview lists each table's columns and marks calculated ones.

Tools fail with 429

Why: Superhuman Docs limits each user: about 10 writes and 100 reads every 6 seconds, and 4 doc listings every 6 seconds.

Fix: PopMCP retries automatically. For large jobs, ask the AI to batch rows into one call instead of one call per row.
