Wave
Connect Wave to create and send invoices, record payments, see who owes you, manage customers and products, and add income and expenses.
You paste one value into PopMCP: a Full Access Token from a small application you make in Wave's developer portal. It takes about three minutes and needs no review or paid plan. If your login has several businesses, you then pick the one to connect.
- Setup time
- 3 min
- Auth
- API credentials
- API base URL
- https://gql.waveapps.com/graphql/public (GraphQL, Bearer token)
- Rate limits
- Wave's documents, as far as we could read them, publish no fixed limit. If Wave answers that it is limiting requests, wait a minute and try again.
Before you begin
- A Wave account you can sign in to, with at least one business
- Nothing to install. The application you make is only a place for the token to live, so any name will do
- A minute to copy the token when it is created
Get your credentials
Open Manage Applications
Sign in to Wave, open Wave's developer portal and choose Manage Applications from the left navigation. If you already have an application there, skip to the step that creates the token.
Manage Applications
Your applications appear here.
Create the application
Click Get started and complete the form. Any name works, such as PopMCP. If it asks for a redirect URI, enter https://www.popmcp.com: a Full Access Token never uses it. Accept the terms and click Create application. Wave then shows a Client ID and Client Secret, which you do not need here.
Create an application
Wave asks you to accept its terms before it creates the application. Read them: they are between you and Wave.
Create the token
Open your application from Manage Applications and click Create token. Copy the token and keep it private: it acts as you, with everything your Wave login can do, in every business you own. The Client ID and Client Secret on this page are not the token.
PopMCP
Full Access Token
Click Revoke here at any time to stop the token. It stops working at once.
Paste the token into PopMCP
In PopMCP open Marketplace, find Wave, click Connect and paste the token into Full Access Token. PopMCP checks it against Wave and stores it encrypted.
Choose your business
PopMCP lists the businesses your login owns. Pick the one to connect and the workspace it belongs in. The connection stays locked to that business, even though the token could reach the others. To connect a second business, choose it for a different workspace.
Connect in PopMCP
Open your workspace, choose Wave in the marketplace, and fill in the connect dialog:
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Full Access Tokensecret | In Wave's developer portal open Manage Applications. If you have no application yet, click Get started, fill in the form and click Create application. Then open the application and click Create token. Stored encrypted.Encrypted with AES-256-GCM on save and never shown again. |
PopMCP verifies the credential against Wave immediately. On success the connection flips to Verified and its MCP tools are provisioned.
Verify it worked
PopMCP reads your user and the business you picked, and names the connection after the business. It also notes when the business cannot email invoices yet. Asking the AI who owes you money confirms it works.
Troubleshooting
"Wave did not accept this token. In Wave's developer portal open Manage Applications, open your application, click Create token, and paste the new token. A revoked token stops working at once."
Why: Part of the token was missed when copying, the token was revoked, or the Client ID or Client Secret was pasted instead.
Fix: Create a new token on your application, copy the whole value and paste it into PopMCP.
"Your Wave login cannot reach this business any more."
Why: The business was removed, or the token belongs to a different Wave login.
Fix: Create a token while signed in to the login that owns the business, then reconnect Wave in PopMCP.
An invoice will not send
Why: Wave sends only an approved invoice, and only if email sending is turned on for the business.
Fix: Ask the AI to approve the invoice first. If it still fails, the connection profile says whether the business can email invoices. Check that in Wave, or mark the invoice as sent and send it yourself.
"Wave refused to renew this sign-in"
Why: On a sign-in connection, the business no longer has an active Pro or Wave Advisor subscription.
Fix: Renew the subscription, or reconnect Wave with a Full Access Token.
The AI cannot find bills, reports or past transactions
Why: Wave's API does not offer them. It can add income and expenses but not read them back, and it reads vendors without changing them.
Fix: Do those in Wave itself.
