# Wix setup for PopMCP

Three values go into PopMCP: the API key token shown once by the Wix API Keys Manager, the Account ID on that same page, and the Site ID taken from the site dashboard URL.

- Auth: API credentials
- Setup time: 6 min
- API base URL: https://www.wixapis.com
- Credentials screen: https://manage.wix.com/account/api-keys
- Provider docs: https://dev.wix.com/docs/rest/articles/getting-started/api-keys

## Before you begin

- Account owner or co-owner access, because no other role can create API keys
- Access to the email address on the Wix account, since a 6-digit verification code is sent there before the key is issued
- The account that owns the site, because site-level calls only work with a key generated from the site owner's own account

## Get your credentials

### 1. Open the API Keys Manager

Go to manage.wix.com/account/api-keys. You can also click your avatar at the top right, choose Account Settings, then API Keys.

Screen: https://manage.wix.com/account/api-keys

### 2. Name the key, then set permissions and site access

Click Generate API Key and enter a name under Key details. Tick only the permissions PopMCP needs, such as Wix Stores, Contacts and Wix Bookings, choose Specific sites and add the site you are connecting, then click Generate Key.

### 3. Confirm with the emailed 6-digit code

Click Send Code, then take the 6-digit code from the email on your Wix account. Type it into the Verify your account pop-up and click Verify & Generate Key.

### 4. Copy the token before you close the pop-up

Click Copy Token & Close in the You generated an API key pop-up and store the token somewhere safe.

### 5. Collect the Account ID and the Site ID

Back on the API Keys page, click Copy ID under Account ID. Then open the site's dashboard and copy the UUID that follows `/dashboard/` in the browser URL.

Screen: https://manage.wix.com/account/api-keys

### 6. Paste all three values into PopMCP

Open the Wix connector in PopMCP, fill API key, Account ID and Site ID, then save.

## Fields PopMCP asks for

- API key (apiKey) [required]: Wix account dashboard → top-right avatar → Settings → API Keys (manage.wix.com/account/api-keys) → Generate API Key. Grant it the permissions/roles you want the MCP to use (e.g. Wix Stores, Contacts, Bookings). Copy the key ONCE at creation. Wix does not show it again. Stored encrypted; used server-side only.
- Account ID (accountId) [required]: Shown on the same API Keys page (manage.wix.com/account/api-keys), under your account details. It's a UUID. Paste just the id, or a URL/label that contains it. We'll pull it out.
- Site ID (siteId) [required]: The site the MCP should act on. Open the site's dashboard (the URL is manage.wix.com/dashboard/<SITE-ID>/home) and copy the UUID after /dashboard/. (Also available in the site's Settings.) Paste just the id or the whole URL.

## Verify

PopMCP shows Wix as Connected and a read call such as listing products or contacts returns data for the site whose Site ID you pasted.

## Troubleshooting

### 403 Forbidden

Cause: The key lacks the permission for that API, targets a site it cannot reach, or was created by a co-owner rather than the site's own account.

Fix: In the API Keys Manager choose More Actions, Edit to add the permission and widen site access. Check who created the key under Settings, Roles & Permissions.

### 403 on account-level calls only

Cause: The call carried wix-site-id where the endpoint requires wix-account-id.

Fix: Fill in the Account ID field as well as the Site ID. Wix requires one header or the other depending on the endpoint.

### You closed the pop-up without copying the token

Cause: Wix reveals the token exactly once.

Fix: Click More Actions next to the key and choose Rotate for a new token with the same permissions, or Duplicate for a new key with the same permissions.

### No verification code arrives

Cause: Wix could not deliver the 2-step verification message.

Fix: Check the address on the Wix account and the spam folder, then contact Wix Support if it still does not arrive.

### Calls hit the wrong site

Cause: A key scoped to Specific sites was given a Site ID outside that list.

Fix: Edit the key's site access in the API Keys Manager, or paste the Site ID of a site the key already covers.

### Generate API Key is not visible

Cause: You are signed in with a role other than owner or co-owner.

Fix: Sign in as the account owner, or ask an owner to generate the key and send you the token securely.
