# Tapfiliate setup for PopMCP

You paste one value into PopMCP: the API key from Profile settings in Tapfiliate. One key belongs to your user in one Tapfiliate account, so there is nothing to choose afterwards.

- Auth: API credentials
- Setup time: 1 min
- API base URL: https://api.tapfiliate.com/1.6
- Credentials screen: https://app.tapfiliate.com/a/profile/
- Provider docs: https://developers.tapfiliate.com/authentication

## Before you begin

- A Tapfiliate account on any plan: the pricing page ticks the REST API on Launch, Scale and Enterprise
- A Tapfiliate user with API access, which you can read from your own Profile settings
- Nothing to apply for: the key works straight away
- The click tools use the Detailed API click report, which Tapfiliate lists on Enterprise only

## Get your credentials

### 1. Open Profile settings

Sign in to Tapfiliate, click your initials at the bottom left, and choose Profile settings. The direct link is `app.tapfiliate.com/a/profile/`.

Screen: https://app.tapfiliate.com/a/profile/

### 2. Copy the API key

Scroll down to API Key and copy it. If there is no key yet, click Generate API key first. Do not generate a new one if you already have one: Tapfiliate stops the old key at once, along with anything else using it. The Account ID on the same page is only for the tracking script, so leave that one.

Screen: https://app.tapfiliate.com/a/profile/

### 3. Connect in PopMCP

Paste the API key into PopMCP's Tapfiliate form and click Connect. PopMCP checks it with Tapfiliate and labels the connection with your program's name.

Screen: https://developers.tapfiliate.com/authentication

### 4. Check it is connected

The Tapfiliate card in PopMCP reads Connected, with your program's name. New connections start read-only, so recording conversions and payments and approving commissions wait until an owner or admin allows write actions in PopMCP.

## Fields PopMCP asks for

- API key (apiKey) [required]: In Tapfiliate: Profile settings, then scroll down to API Key. Stored encrypted.

## Verify

PopMCP shows the Tapfiliate connector as Connected, labelled with your program's name, after one read of your programs.

## Troubleshooting

### Tapfiliate did not accept this

Cause: The Account ID was copied instead of the API key, or the key was copied only in part, or a newer key has replaced it.

Fix: Open Profile settings in Tapfiliate and copy the API key in full, then connect again.

### Tapfiliate accepted this key, but its user has no API access

Cause: The key is real, but your Tapfiliate user is not allowed to use the API.

Fix: Ask the account holder to grant it, or contact Tapfiliate support.

### Approving a commission is refused

Cause: Your Tapfiliate user does not have the Approve commissions permission, or the commission is already approved in an account using Tapfiliate Pay, or the Tapfiliate Pay balance does not cover it.

Fix: Ask the account holder for the permission, or add funds to Tapfiliate Pay. An approved commission on Tapfiliate Pay cannot be changed.

### The click tools are refused

Cause: Tapfiliate lists the Detailed API click report on Enterprise only.

Fix: Ask Tapfiliate about Enterprise. Conversions, commissions and affiliates work on every plan.

### A conversion is refused with Cookie expired

Cause: The affiliate's click is older than the program's cookie time, which is normal for a late conversion.

Fix: Tell the AI to track it anyway. It then sends the override Tapfiliate offers for this.

### A conversion is refused as a duplicate

Cause: A conversion with this external id already exists, so it is already recorded.

Fix: Treat it as done. Ask the AI to find it by that external id if you need to see it.

### Tapfiliate is limiting requests

Cause: Limits are per endpoint and shared by everything using this key. The balances list allows only 10 calls a minute.

Fix: Wait a minute and try again. If your own scripts use the same key, space them out.
