# SE Ranking setup for PopMCP

You paste one SE Ranking API key, from API, Dashboard in your account. The same key opens keyword, domain and backlink data, your projects, Local Marketing and SE Visible, as far as your plan includes them.

## Before you begin

- An SE Ranking account on a current plan: Essential, Pro, Business, Core, Growth or Enterprise. All of them include the API. Trial accounts work too, limited to 1 data request a second.
- The main account login. API access lives with the main account, so on a sub-account ask your account administrator for the key.
- API credits for data tools. Every plan includes a monthly allowance, from 10,000 on Essential to 100,000 on Business, Growth and Enterprise.

## Get your credentials

### 1. Open the API dashboard

Sign in at `online.seranking.com`. In the left-hand menu, click the API icon, then Dashboard. The API Keys table lists your keys, and most accounts already have one there.

### 2. Copy a key, or create one for PopMCP

Copy a key from the API Keys table. To keep PopMCP on its own key, click + CREATE API KEY at the top right, enter a name like `PopMCP` under API key name, then click CREATE KEY. The new key appears in the table, ready to copy. There is no separate key per product, so one is enough.

### 3. Paste the key into PopMCP

Paste it into SE Ranking API key. PopMCP checks it with three free calls, which spend no credits, and tells you what the key reaches and how many credits are left.

## Fields PopMCP asks for

- SE Ranking API key (apiKey) [required]: From API > Dashboard in SE Ranking: copy a key from the API Keys table, or click Create API key. Stored encrypted, used server-side only.

## Verify

PopMCP shows SE Ranking as Verified, labelled with your name and email, and lists what the key reaches. Ask for your projects: seranking_list_projects answers with each project's id and name. Ask about any domain to try the data side: seranking_check_domain spends about 215 credits.

## Troubleshooting

### "SE Ranking didn't accept this key"

Cause: The key was copied incompletely or has been deleted, or it belongs to a sub-account.

Fix: Copy it again from API, Dashboard, or create a new one there. On a sub-account, ask your account administrator for the key.

### "SE Ranking knows this key, but the subscription behind it has ended"

Cause: The plan has lapsed.

Fix: Check Profile & Preferences, Billing in SE Ranking, then connect again.

### A tool answers Insufficient funds

Cause: The account is out of API credits. Project, Local Marketing and SE Visible tools keep working.

Fix: Add credits on the Subscription page in SE Ranking, or wait for the monthly allowance.

### A tool answers 429 Too Many Requests

Cause: Something else is sharing this key, as limits count per key. PopMCP spaces out its own calls.

Fix: Wait a moment and try again. Repeated overruns can lock a key for 10 minutes or longer, so give busy scripts their own key.

### A domain returns nothing

Cause: SE Ranking has no data for it, or it is one of the very large sites the API doesn't serve, such as google.com.

Fix: Try a smaller domain, or a different country with source.

### A tool answers that this key can't use that

Cause: Your plan may not include that product, or the project belongs to another account.

Fix: seranking_connection_profile shows what the key reaches. Check the plan under Billing in SE Ranking.
