# Pipedrive setup for PopMCP

You end up with your personal Pipedrive API token, copied from Settings, Personal preferences, API, plus optionally your company subdomain from the Pipedrive URL.

## Before you begin

- A Pipedrive user account in the company whose data PopMCP should see
- The "Access their own API token" permission enabled for your permission set, under Settings, Manage users, Permission sets, Tools and setup
- Awareness that the token inherits your own visibility. PopMCP sees exactly the deals, contacts and pipelines you can see

## Get your credentials

### 1. Open your Pipedrive settings

Sign in at app.pipedrive.com, click your account name in the top-right corner and choose Company settings.

### 2. Go to Personal preferences → API

In the settings sidebar open Personal preferences and click API. The direct link is app.pipedrive.com/settings/api.

### 3. Copy the token

Click Copy next to Your personal API token. Do not click Generate new token unless you are ready to update every integration using the old one.

### 4. Note your company domain

Read the subdomain from your browser address bar at https://your-company.pipedrive.com. Copy just the subdomain, for example `acme-sales`.

### 5. Paste the values into PopMCP

Paste the token into PopMCP's API token field. Leave Company domain blank, or paste the subdomain from the previous step.

## Fields PopMCP asks for

- API token (apiToken) [required]: In Pipedrive: click your profile (top-right) → Company settings → Personal preferences → API → copy your personal API token (or Settings → search "API"). The token is tied to your user and company. Stored encrypted.
- Company domain (optional) (companyDomain): The subdomain in your Pipedrive URL: https://<your-company>.pipedrive.com. Leave blank and we'll detect it automatically from your token. You can paste the full URL; we'll extract the subdomain.

## Verify

PopMCP shows the connection as Connected and reports your Pipedrive company name. Asking for your pipelines or open deals returns real records from that account.

## Troubleshooting

### 401 Unauthorized

Cause: The token was mistyped or truncated, or it was regenerated in Pipedrive after you connected.

Fix: Re-copy the current token from Settings, Personal preferences, API and paste it into PopMCP again.

### The API page is not in Personal preferences

Cause: Your permission set does not allow access to your own API token.

Fix: Ask an admin to open Settings, Manage users, Permission sets, select your set and tick "Access their own API token" under Tools and setup.

### Requests hit the wrong company

Cause: You belong to several Pipedrive companies and pasted a token from a different one, or typed the wrong subdomain.

Fix: Leave Company domain blank so PopMCP resolves it from the token, or copy the subdomain exactly from the browser URL while logged in to the right company.

### An integration suddenly stopped working

Cause: The token was regenerated. Only one token is active per user at a time.

Fix: Copy the new token into every integration, including PopMCP.

### 429 Too Many Requests

Cause: You exceeded the short burst window or exhausted the daily token budget for your plan and seat count.

Fix: Space out requests and retry. Heavy usage may need a higher Pipedrive plan or more seats, which raises the daily budget.
