# Metricool setup for PopMCP

Nothing has to be typed into PopMCP. You click Sign in with Metricool, sign in, allow access and choose your brand. There is no developer app or callback URL to set up. Under More options you can use an API token and your user ID instead of signing in, which adds the inbox, SmartLinks, autolists, reports and team tools. The token comes with the Advanced and Custom plans.

- Auth: OAuth authorization
- Setup time: 1 min
- API base URL: https://app.metricool.com/api
- Credentials screen: https://app.metricool.com
- Provider docs: https://help.metricool.com/how-to-connect-metricools-mcp-eqp9h

## Before you begin

- A Metricool account. Metricool says signing in works on every plan, including Free
- At least one brand in Metricool, with the social networks you care about connected to it
- Pop-up blockers must allow the Metricool sign-in window to open
- Only if the AI should schedule or change anything: an owner or admin in PopMCP to allow write actions
- Only for an API token: the Advanced or Custom plan

## Get your credentials

### 1. Start the connection from PopMCP

Open the Metricool connector in PopMCP and click Sign in with Metricool. There are no fields to fill in: no API token, no developer app and nothing to register.

### 2. Sign in and allow access

If you are not signed in to Metricool in this browser, Metricool shows its normal login page first. Then it asks you to allow PopMCP to reach your account. Allow it to carry on.

### 3. Choose your brand

Back in PopMCP, pick the brand this connection is for and the workspace it belongs in. If you manage several brands, each one you pick becomes its own connection, and each connection refuses requests for any other brand.

### 4. Back in PopMCP

New connections are read-only: your AI can read analytics, posts and best times, and nothing can be scheduled or changed. An owner or admin in PopMCP can allow write actions when you want it to schedule posts. A scheduled post publishes to your real accounts at its date.

### 5. Or copy your API token

Optional, instead of signing in, for the inbox, SmartLinks, autolists, reports and team tools. On the Advanced or Custom plan, open Settings in Metricool and go to the API tab. Copy the token from the REST API Accesstoken section. In PopMCP open More options and paste it into API token. To have both ways, add a second connection.

### 6. Add your user ID

A token also needs your user ID. Open any brand in Metricool and look at the address in your browser: it looks like app.metricool.com/evolution/web?blogId=...&userId=.... Copy the number after userId= into User ID under More options, or paste the whole address and PopMCP reads the number from it. Then pick your brand, as above.

## Fields PopMCP asks for

- How you connect (connectionType): Click Sign in, sign in to Metricool and allow access. Then choose your brand. There is nothing to copy or paste, and it works on every Metricool plan.
- API token (instead of signing in) (apiToken): Adds the Inbox, SmartLinks, autolists, ad campaigns and reports. Needs the Advanced or Custom plan. In Metricool, open Settings, then the API tab, and copy the REST API access token. Stored encrypted and used only on our servers.
- User ID (with an API token) (userId): Open any brand in Metricool and copy the number after userId= in the address. You can paste the whole address instead.

## Scopes requested

- mcp:read
- mcp:write

## Verify

The Metricool card in PopMCP shows Connected with your brand's name. Asking the AI for the connection profile (`metricool_connection_profile`) shows the brand, the tools available and which of them change data.

## Troubleshooting

### The sign-in window never opens

Cause: A pop-up blocker is stopping the Metricool sign-in window.

Fix: Allow pop-ups for PopMCP in your browser and click Sign in with Metricool again.

### PopMCP lists Your Metricool account and no brands

Cause: PopMCP could not read your brand list at that moment. The connection still works, and your AI names the brand on each call.

Fix: Pick it to carry on, or connect again a little later to choose one brand.

### PopMCP says Metricool did not accept the API token and user ID

Cause: The token was copied in part, it was regenerated, or the user ID is not the number from your own address.

Fix: Copy the token again from Settings, on the API tab, and paste your Metricool address into User ID.

### PopMCP says the token is real but Metricool refused it

Cause: API access comes with the Advanced and Custom plans.

Fix: Connect by signing in, which works on every plan, or move to one of those plans.

### The connection stopped working after someone regenerated the token

Cause: Regenerating a token in Metricool ends the old one at once, everywhere it is used.

Fix: Copy the new token and connect again.

### The AI says a post was not scheduled because of its length or missing media

Cause: X allows 280 characters and Bluesky 300. Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest and YouTube posts need media, a Pinterest post needs a board and a YouTube post needs a title.

Fix: Change the post and try again. The AI is told not to change your text by itself.

### A post went out with no image or video

Cause: The media link was private or temporary, so Metricool could not read it.

Fix: Use a public link that does not expire. Metricool's guide explains this.

### The AI says this connection is bound to another brand

Cause: Each connection works on one brand.

Fix: Connect the other brand too, then ask your AI to use that connection.

### Numbers look lower than expected on the Free plan

Cause: Metricool's Free plan keeps a limited analytics history, and your plan's limits apply here too.

Fix: Check your plan in Metricool.
