# Jotform setup for PopMCP

A Jotform API key created on the Account API page, plus the data region your account is hosted in, us, eu or hipaa, both pasted into PopMCP.

- Auth: API credentials
- Setup time: 3 min
- API base URL: https://api.jotform.com
- Credentials screen: https://www.jotform.com/myaccount/api
- Provider docs: https://api.jotform.com/docs/

## Before you begin

- A Jotform account on any plan, Starter and Free included
- Set the key to Full Access if PopMCP should create or edit forms, submissions and folders. Read Access limits it to reads
- EU hosted accounts must enter region eu. HIPAA hosting requires an Enterprise HIPAA account and region hipaa

## Get your credentials

### 1. Open the API section of My Account

Sign in and go to jotform.com/myaccount/api, or click your avatar, then Settings, then API. Click Create New Key on the right of the page.

Screen: https://www.jotform.com/myaccount/api

### 2. Label the key and set it to Full Access

Select the new key and give it a label such as `PopMCP`. Open the dropdown in the Permissions column and choose Full Access.

Screen: https://www.jotform.com/myaccount/api

### 3. Copy the API key

Copy the value from the API Key column for the `PopMCP` row.

Screen: https://www.jotform.com/myaccount/api

### 4. Work out your data region

Check the host you sign in on. www.jotform.com is region `us`, eu.jotform.com is `eu`, and hipaa.jotform.com is `hipaa`.

### 5. Paste both values into PopMCP

In PopMCP, open the Jotform connector, paste the key into API key, then type `us`, `eu` or `hipaa` into Data region. Leave Data region blank to default to `us`.

## Fields PopMCP asks for

- API key (apiKey) [required]: Create one at jotform.com → Account → API → Create New Key (https://www.jotform.com/myaccount/api). Give it Full Access for read+write tools, or Read Only to restrict to reads. Stored encrypted.
- Data region (us, eu, or hipaa) (region): Where your Jotform account's data is hosted: us (default, api.jotform.com), eu (eu-api.jotform.com), or hipaa (hipaa-api.jotform.com, Enterprise HIPAA accounts). A key only works against its own region's host. Leave as us unless your account is on EU or HIPAA hosting.

## Verify

PopMCP marks the Jotform connector Connected and a test call lists the forms on your account under the correct regional host.

## Troubleshooting

### 401 or "Invalid API Key"

Cause: The key is correct but you are hitting the wrong regional host. An EU key sent to api.jotform.com will not authenticate.

Fix: Set the Data region field to eu, or hipaa, to match where the account is hosted, then reconnect.

### 403 on any create or update

Cause: The key's Permissions column is still Read Access.

Fix: Go back to jotform.com/myaccount/api, open the Permissions dropdown for that key and switch it to Full Access.

### Requests start failing partway through the day

Cause: You hit the plan's daily API call cap, 1,000 calls on Starter and 10,000 on Bronze.

Fix: Wait for the counter to reset at midnight EST, or move to a higher plan.

### Forms are missing from the results

Cause: The key belongs to a personal account rather than the team or Enterprise account that owns the forms.

Fix: Create the key while signed in as the account that owns the forms, or ask the owner to issue one.

### Calls fail from PopMCP but work from your own machine

Cause: The key has an IP Restriction set to your address.

Fix: Clear the IP Restriction column for that key.
