# Grin setup for PopMCP

You paste one value into PopMCP: an API key from Account Settings, API Integration in Grin. PopMCP reads your brand names with it.

- Auth: API credentials
- Setup time: 1 min
- API base URL: https://app.grin.co/api/rest/v1
- Credentials screen: https://app.grin.co/settings/account/integrations/api
- Provider docs: https://api.grin.co/docs/v1/ZG9jOjExMDcyMQ-authentication

## Before you begin

- A Grin account you can sign in to at app.grin.co, with access to Account Settings
- No app, redirect URL or review is needed

## Get your credentials

### 1. Open the API Integration settings in Grin

Sign in to Grin, then open [Account Settings, API Integration](https://app.grin.co/settings/account/integrations/api). If you have more than one Grin account, sign in to the one you want: each key reaches one account.

Screen: https://app.grin.co/settings/account/integrations/api

### 2. Copy an API key

Copy an existing key, or make a new one just for PopMCP so you can remove it later without touching anything else. Treat it like a password: Grin says its keys carry many privileges.

Screen: https://app.grin.co/settings/account/integrations/api

### 3. Paste it into PopMCP

Paste the key into API key in PopMCP and click connect. PopMCP checks it with Grin straight away and shows your brand's name. To keep the AI to reading, choose read-only access in PopMCP: Grin's docs describe no read-only key.

## Fields PopMCP asks for

- API key (apiKey) [required]: In Grin, open Account Settings, then API Integration, and copy a key or make a new one. Treat it like a password. Stored encrypted.

## Verify

PopMCP marks the Grin connection Verified and shows your brand's name. Ask the AI to list your campaigns or total last month's affiliate sales, and it answers from your account.

## Troubleshooting

### "Grin did not accept this API key."

Cause: The key was copied in part, it was removed in Grin, or it is from another account.

Fix: Copy the key again from [Account Settings, API Integration](https://app.grin.co/settings/account/integrations/api), or make a new one.

### The API Integration page does not open for your account

Cause: Your login may not reach account settings, or your account may be set up differently.

Fix: Ask an admin on your account, or your Grin contact, for an API key. Grin's docs say API feedback goes to your Customer Success Manager.

### A tool says Grin is limiting requests

Cause: Grin limits requests and publishes no number.

Fix: Wait a little and try again. Asking for a summary or an overview uses fewer requests than many single lookups.

### A filter seems to do nothing

Cause: Grin's docs say not every filter is listed, and a list may ignore one it does not have. The answer says when a filter is not in the reference.

Fix: Check the rows it sent back, or use a documented filter such as created_at.

### The AI says it cannot tag a contact or send a payment

Cause: Grin's API has no way to do either. It can make a tag and read a contact's tags, and it can read payments.

Fix: Do these in Grin itself.
