# FirstPromoter setup for PopMCP

You paste two values into PopMCP: an API key and your Account ID, both from Settings, Integrations, Manage API Keys in FirstPromoter. The Account ID names the one account this connection uses, so there is nothing to choose afterwards.

- Auth: API credentials
- Setup time: 2 min
- API base URL: https://api.firstpromoter.com/api/v2/company
- Credentials screen: https://login.firstpromoter.com/
- Provider docs: https://docs.firstpromoter.com/api-reference-v2/api-admin/authentication

## Before you begin

- A FirstPromoter account on any plan: its pricing page lists developer APIs and webhooks on Starter, Business and Enterprise
- Access to Settings in your FirstPromoter dashboard
- Nothing to apply for: the key works straight away
- Embedding the promoter dashboard in your own app needs Business or higher and a custom domain

## Get your credentials

### 1. Open Manage API Keys

Log in to FirstPromoter at `login.firstpromoter.com`. Open Settings, then Integrations, then Manage API Keys.

Screen: https://login.firstpromoter.com/

### 2. Create an API key

Click Add new Key, give it a name such as `PopMCP`, and click Create. Copy the key right away: FirstPromoter asks you to store it as soon as it is made. It gives full access to your FirstPromoter account, so do not share it anywhere else.

Screen: https://docs.firstpromoter.com/api-reference-v2/api-admin/authentication

### 3. Copy your Account ID

Stay on the same panel and copy your Account ID. FirstPromoter needs it with every request, because it says which account the key is for.

Screen: https://docs.firstpromoter.com/api-reference-v2/api-admin/authentication

### 4. Connect in PopMCP

Paste the API key and Account ID into PopMCP's FirstPromoter form and click Connect. PopMCP checks them with FirstPromoter. Leave V1 API key under More options blank unless you need the older V1 tools and FirstPromoter refuses your main key on them.

Screen: https://docs.firstpromoter.com/api-reference-v2/api-admin/authentication

### 5. Check it is connected

The FirstPromoter card in PopMCP reads Connected, with your Account ID. New connections start read-only, so accepting promoters, approving commissions and marking payouts as paid wait until an owner or admin allows write actions in PopMCP.

## Fields PopMCP asks for

- API key (apiKey) [required]: In FirstPromoter: Settings, Integrations, Manage API Keys, then Add new Key. Copy it right away. Stored encrypted.
- Account ID (accountId) [required]: On the same page, in the API integrations panel.
- V1 API key (v1ApiKey): Only for the older V1 tools. Most people can leave this blank.

## Verify

PopMCP shows the FirstPromoter connector as Connected, labelled with your Account ID, after one read of your promoters.

## Troubleshooting

### FirstPromoter did not accept this API key and Account ID

Cause: The key or the Account ID was copied only in part, or the key has been deleted.

Fix: Open Settings, Integrations, Manage API Keys in FirstPromoter. Copy the Account ID again, add a new key if you no longer have the old one, then connect again.

### FirstPromoter did not accept the V1 API key

Cause: The main key and Account ID work, but the optional V1 key does not.

Fix: Copy the V1 key again from Settings in FirstPromoter, or leave the field blank. Only the older V1 tools use it.

### FirstPromoter is limiting requests

Cause: FirstPromoter allows 400 requests per minute per account, shared by everything using it.

Fix: Wait a minute and try again. If your own scripts use the same account, space them out.

### A bulk action says in_progress

Cause: FirstPromoter runs bulk actions on more than 5 records in the background.

Fix: This is normal. The AI can check on it with the wait for batch tool. Do not repeat the action.

### Creating a promo code is refused

Cause: FirstPromoter can create promo codes through its API for Stripe accounts only.

Fix: Create the code in your billing provider, then add it to the promoter's campaign.

### Embedding the promoter dashboard is refused

Cause: It needs the Business plan or higher and a custom domain on the account.

Fix: Check your plan and custom domain in FirstPromoter.
