# CJ Dropshipping setup for PopMCP

You paste one value into PopMCP: a CJ Dropshipping API Key. It has the shape `CJUserNum@api@<40-character token>` and My CJ only ever shows it masked, as `CJ4******38`, beside an eye icon and a copy icon.

- Auth: API credentials
- Setup time: 6 min
- API base URL: https://developers.cjdropshipping.com/api2.0/v1
- Credentials screen: https://www.cjdropshipping.com/my.html#/authorize/API
- Provider docs: https://developers.cjdropshipping.com/en/api/api2/api/auth.html

## Before you begin

- A CJ Dropshipping account, free to register at cjdropshipping.com
- The API app installed from Apps → Install App, in the Others category of the App Store. Until it is installed there is no API entry in the left menu
- Access to the CJ account itself. API keys are minted per CJ account, not per staff seat

## Get your credentials

### 1. Install the API app from the App Store

Sign in at cjdropshipping.com and open My CJ, then click Apps in the left menu and choose Install App. In the App Store overlay open the Others category, find API, and click the download icon on its card.

Screen: https://www.cjdropshipping.com/my.html

### 2. Open the API page under Apps

Click the new API entry under Apps in the left menu, or go straight to `my.html#/authorize/API`. Select the API tab rather than API Stores.

Screen: https://www.cjdropshipping.com/my.html#/authorize/API

### 3. Create an API Key

Click Add API and type a name you will recognise later, such as `PopMCP`, into API Key Name. Leave Same As API Key Name ticked for API Store Name, set Type to API Key, then click Confirm.

### 4. Copy the key from the API Key & MCP Token column

Find the row whose Type is API Key and whose Status reads Activated. Click the copy icon in the API Key & MCP Token column instead of revealing the value and retyping it.

### 5. Paste the key into PopMCP

Paste the value into the API Key field in PopMCP and click Connect.

## Fields PopMCP asks for

- API Key (apiKey) [required]: My CJ → Apps → Install App → install "API" (Others category), then Authorization → Add API → set Type to API Key → Confirm → copy the key from the API Key column. Stored encrypted and used server-side only to mint CJ access tokens. If the key is ever rotated in CJ, reconnect here with the new one.

## Verify

PopMCP flips CJ Dropshipping to Connected and a first tool call, such as listing product categories, returns CJ data instead of an auth error.

## Troubleshooting

### Authentication fails right after connecting

Cause: The key was retyped or truncated, so the `CJUserNum@api@` prefix is missing or a character was dropped.

Fix: Return to Apps → API and use the copy icon in the API Key & MCP Token column, then reconnect in PopMCP.

### There is no API entry under Apps in the left menu

Cause: The API app has not been installed from Apps → Install App, in the Others category of the App Store.

Fix: Install the API app first, then reload my.html#/authorize/API.

### Too-many-requests errors during the first minutes

Cause: CJ limits the token endpoint to one call per second and returns the same cached access token for 24 hours. Repeated reconnects trip the limit.

Fix: Wait a minute and reconnect once. Do not re-save the connector repeatedly.

### Connector worked, then started returning auth errors

Cause: The key was deleted or regenerated in CJ, or the 180-day refresh token lapsed after a long idle period.

Fix: Create a fresh key with Add API and reconnect PopMCP with the new value.

### Not sure whether the key you pasted is complete

Cause: CJ keys carry an account prefix. A value without `@api@` in the middle is a partial copy.

Fix: Reveal the key with the eye icon and check it reads `CJUserNum@api@` followed by a long token.
