# Brevo setup for PopMCP

One Brevo v3 API key beginning with xkeysib- that you paste into PopMCP's API key field.

## Before you begin

- A Brevo account on any plan, including the free tier
- A user who can open the account dropdown and reach SMTP & API settings, so an owner or an admin
- SMS, WhatsApp and Sales platform endpoints only answer if your plan includes those products

## Get your credentials

### 1. Open the account menu

Sign in at app.brevo.com and click your account name in the top-right corner. Choose SMTP & API from the dropdown.

### 2. Open the API Keys & MCP tab

On the SMTP & API page, select the API Keys & MCP tab.

### 3. Generate a new API key

Click Generate a new API key, type `PopMCP` into the name field, set Expiry to No expiration, then click Generate.

### 4. Copy the key into PopMCP

Copy the key from the dialog before you close it. Paste it into PopMCP's API key field and save the connection.

## Fields PopMCP asks for

- API key (apiKey) [required]: Brevo dashboard → click your account name (top right) → SMTP & API → API Keys → Generate a new API key. It starts with "xkeysib-". Stored encrypted.

## Verify

The Brevo connector in PopMCP flips to Connected and the connection card names your Brevo account. Asking for your contact lists returns the lists that exist in Brevo.

## Troubleshooting

### 401 Unauthorized

Cause: The key was deleted, expired or regenerated in Brevo, or a stray space or line break was pasted with it.

Fix: Generate a fresh key on the API keys tab and paste it again with no surrounding whitespace.

### 403 Forbidden on some tools only

Cause: Your Brevo plan does not include that product, for example SMS or the Sales platform.

Fix: Upgrade the plan or avoid those tools. The key itself is fine if contacts and email calls succeed.

### 429 Too Many Requests

Cause: You crossed Brevo's per-endpoint rate limit. Most non-sending endpoints are capped per hour rather than per second.

Fix: Slow the calls down, or move to a Professional or Enterprise plan, which doubles the allowance.

### You closed the dialog before copying

Cause: Brevo never redisplays a key. The list only shows the last few characters.

Fix: Delete the half-created key and click Generate a new API key again.
