# Birdeye setup for PopMCP

You paste two values into PopMCP, both from one Birdeye page: the API key and the Business ID, under Settings, Integrations, API.

- Auth: API credentials
- Setup time: 2 min
- API base URL: https://api.birdeye.com/resources
- Credentials screen: https://app.birdeye.com/dashboard/
- Provider docs: https://docs.birdeye.com/api/introduction

## Before you begin

- A Birdeye account with API access. If Birdeye answers that your key is not activated, Birdeye support or your rep can turn it on
- A sign-in that can open Settings in Birdeye, usually an account owner or admin
- If you have several locations, your main account's Business ID: its locations come with it

## Get your credentials

### 1. Open the API page in Birdeye

Sign in to [Birdeye](https://app.birdeye.com/dashboard/), click Settings in the left rail, open Integrations, then choose API. On some older accounts the same details are under Account, then Developers.

Screen: https://app.birdeye.com/dashboard/

### 2. Copy the API key and the Business ID

If a key is already there, use it. If not, click Generate API key. Copy the API key, then the Business ID, the long number shown with it. If you have several locations, use the number from your main account, not one location.

Screen: https://app.birdeye.com/dashboard/

### 3. Paste both into PopMCP

In PopMCP, paste them into API key and Business ID and connect. PopMCP checks them with Birdeye and shows your business name. Under More options you can add the email you sign in to Birdeye with: some insight reports and ticket comments ask who is asking.

## Fields PopMCP asks for

- API key (apiKey) [required]: In Birdeye: Settings, Integrations, API. Copy the key, or choose Generate API key if there is none. Stored encrypted.
- Business ID (businessNumber) [required]: The long number on the same page as the key. If you have several locations, use your main account's number: its locations come with it.
- Your Birdeye sign-in email (userEmail): Optional. Some insight reports and ticket comments ask who is asking.

## Verify

PopMCP marks the Birdeye connection Verified with your business's name. Asking the AI how your reviews are doing returns your ratings and reviews per site.

## Troubleshooting

### Birdeye says this API key is not activated

Cause: undefined

Fix: API access is not switched on for this key. Ask Birdeye support or your rep to turn it on, then connect again.

### Birdeye refused this API key

Cause: undefined

Fix: The key was changed or not copied whole. Copy it again from Settings, Integrations, API.

### Birdeye does not know the Business ID

Cause: undefined

Fix: Copy the Business ID from the same page as the key. It is a long number, and a key from one account cannot open another account's number.

### Birdeye's rate limit was reached

Cause: undefined

Fix: Birdeye sets a limit per key and does not publish it. Wait a minute and try again, or ask Birdeye support what your limit is.

### The AI sees fewer reviews than Birdeye shows

Cause: undefined

Fix: Birdeye returns only featured reviews unless asked for all. Ask the AI for all reviews, which it sends as statuses all.
